Snowy Smiles in Johannesburg

As if this year hasn’t thrown enough climate curveballs at the world, it just threw snowballs at Johannesburg … in July! It was unseasonal, for sure, but in South Africa, snow at any time is reason for great excitement. This month’s snowfall gave most of our Net Buddies their first experience of catching flakes on their tongue and making snow angels. Some things are the same for kids the world over!  Inevitably, it melted almost as soon as it fell, and there was too much fun being had in the schoolyards for anyone to take photos but – just to document that it actually happened – an Infinite Family member shared this with us.

A Mother's Gratitude

July has been a good month and we had another reason to smile when Sindiswa – the mother of our Net Buddy, Anathi – reminded us just how much Infinite Family means to those in our South African community and how much further ripples of kindness spread than we might think.

When Sindiswa had to be hospitalised, our staffer Puleng Makhanya checked in regularly to offer support and make sure the whole family was coping.  Once Anathi’s mom recovered, she sent a touching voice note to thank Puleng, saying “Infinite Family is like a second home to my children”.  It sure hit us in the feels!
