It's Not All HO-HO-HO this HO-liday

Snowy scenes and boughs of holly aren’t things that any South African can relate to at this time of year. And that goes double for our teens in Alexandra, Khayelitsha, and Soweto!   

Temperatures in Johannesburg are currently hitting 39°C (102°F), which is no fun when your home has a tin roof and no insulation … but that’s not the hardest part of township living in December.  Believe it or not, it’s being out of school.

For many South African teens, school and Infinite Family’s LaunchPads are safe spaces.  Holiday time means being at home, bored and unsupervised, or out on the streets, with all the vulnerabilities that involves. Gang culture is rampant and, as this newly published article warns, they are at great risk of being victims of sexual violence, or being lured into gambling and crime and then never returning to school.

Your gift before December 31 lets our teens return to the LaunchPads as early as possible to study and stay out of harm’s way.
