Resilience. Resourcefulness. Responsibility. Through consistent, one-on-one video mentorship, our teens — known as Net Buddies — strengthen these very traits, and it’s exactly what carries them through school, work, and life long after they graduate from our program.
Our alumna, Net Blazer Lesedi, shared an update this past week that captures this journey in full. She aced all of her modules this semester, earning distinctions in both her English and Psychology exams. She missed a distinction in Research Psychology by just 2% — but rather than let that stand, she took ownership of the outcome and applied for a remark. To her pleasant surprise, she had in fact done well enough to earn a distinction there too, meaning she finished the semester with distinctions in every single subject.
In her own words:
“It was a very challenging semester, but I made sure that I pulled up my socks and studied hard to make Angie (her mentor) proud since I promised her in January that I would come back with distinctions and make her proud.”
We are so proud of how Lesedi continues to advocate for herself and the amazing young woman she is becoming. GO LESEDI!!
