If anything good has come out the theft of laptops from our Cape Town LaunchPad, it’s the overwhelming love, support and encouragement we’ve received from all of you, and the doors it has opened to new suppliers and contacts. It’s a big ask in these times to find a donor to replace all the technology we’ve lost but our teens have work to do and so do we! So we’re ‘making a plan’ and rolling out a two-part interim solution while we figure things out:
Step #1 is to borrow unused laptops from friends at another NGO who understand the importance of not losing valuable study time as our Net Buddies prepare for their year-end exams. Here’s what one had to say just yesterday, “I was happy to finally return to Infinite Family. I enjoyed reconnecting with my mentor and using the LaunchPad for my school research. I am on track to submit all my assignments for the term on time.”
Thanks to our Infinite Family, our Net Buddies are happy to be back on task, working and studying for their end-of-year exams!
Step #2 is to follow up on new leads for well-priced laptops and then to purchase them with funds that are incoming from generous private donors in the US and the proceeds we’re set to receive from the JDI Foundation’s charity Golf Day in Cape Town.
We’ll keep you updated on progress, so please watch this space.
